Fantasia

In the Fantasia environment the educators actively work with the children to discover who they are as individuals and how they each learn the best. By incorporating these various styles of development, the children are successfully building upon their strengths through their collective intelligence. While some children may posess all eight, others may lean towards one in particular, for example, 'Naturalistic'. These children have a love of animals, plants and nature. They display and a strong understanding of the world around them and often engage and learn better when in an outdoor environment or having natural resources incorporated into their learning.

Through the use of multiple intelligences, the educators are able to help the children grow to their full potential by tailoring the program to suit their natural abilities and interests. This allows the child to develop their sense of self-empowerment and self-worth, along with providing them with the ability to explore and develop their passion for learning. The seven senses are at the core of all experiences and learning.

The children have also been exploring their ability to be sustainable within their environments. This aids and develops their multiple intelligence's as sustainability is formed from three pillars: economical, environmental and social, allowing the children to grow and develop from the inside out. This sees the children developing self love, mental health, intrinsic motivation, being sustainable within our selves and displaying respect for our resources. Educating children to innately do good for others without expecting a reward in return.

Throughout this focus we build confident, excited and exceptional human beings who build a love for the world. In turn, these children then want to be active learners who are able to investigate, grow and understand that they will want to learn in the environment and independently do so.

This is where our literacy and numeracy develops, where we have helped build active learners. By incorporating both literacy and numeracy authentically into the environment, the children are inadvertently exposed to these experiences and are genuinely excited to explore and engage.

The children develop a love for numeracy in the Fantasia as they are constantly being exposed to a variety of experiences and activities that enables each child to explore and develop the ability to use mathamatics in the real world. The children are provided with opportunities to freely investigate and explore various materials such as scales, objects that can be defined by their size and amounts, shapes and colours, and numbers as literacy.

Literacy exposure is similar to numeracy where the children are engaging in it without even realising. In Fantasia, our children are exposed on a daily basis to pictures and objects, letters and words, sounds through rhymes as well as songs and stories. By immersing the children in literacy, educators are enabling them to understand that words do not simply come from the educators but rather they are words on a page, conveying a story, and this also further develops their ability to improve problem-solving skills and thinking about new concepts all the while building a larger vocabulary.

We are creating a community of love, respect, self-worth, active learners, resilience, independence, and success. We all engage in an environment where the children's needs for attention, approval and affection are supported but most importantly where the children's thoughts, ideas, interests and practices are embedded in our environment.
